Jigawa State is spending five billion naira on drugs to health facilities

Jigawa State Government is spending five billion naira annually on the supply of drugs to health facilities through Drugs Revolving Funds Program.

The Commissioner of Health, Dr. Muhammad Abdullahi Kainuwa disclosed this while inaugurating an eighteen-member State Sustainable Drug Supply System Committee in his office.

The Commissioner added that, over one billion naira of the amount was being used to cater for free medical services to vulnerable group in the state comprising pregnant women, children five years and below among others.

He reiterated the state government’s determination to providing affordable and qualitative drugs to the citizens, directing that all purchase and supply of drugs in the state be conducted at the Jigawa State Pharmaceutical Company.

Dr. Kainuwa urged members of the committee to consider monitoring, evaluation and sanctions during the implementation of the program at the health institutions to ensure sanity and dedication among the staff.
