Jigawa State Internal Revenue Service has expanded taxpayers database by 200%

The chairman of the Jigawa State Internal Revenue Service said the service has expanded the state’s taxpayers’ database by 200 per cent in efforts to digitalize tax and levies payment to block leakages and prompt revenue remittance.

This was disclosed by the chairman of the state’s Internal Revenue Service chairman, Malam Nasiru Sabo Idris in a speech delivered during a stakeholders’ engagement meeting at the service conference hall said the organization is committed to changing the revenue payment electronically.

Idris explained that they succeeded in expanding the tax payer’s database by 200 per cent that is from 5,000 in 2023 to over 15,000 in 2024.

To ensure the success of this initiative, the agency will engage the Jigawa State Enlightenment and Engagement Tax Team (JEET) in the collection of direct assessment tax, through the use of an electronic payment system as part of an effort to block the revenue leakages.
